Bemidji Chapter of Pheasants Forever
Pheasants Forever is making a difference for pheasants and other wildlife across the nation. In fact, Pheasants Forever members completed over 20,000 habitat projects last year alone. All told, over 3 million acres have been improved for wildlife habitat during Pheasants Forever's first two decades.
Pheasants Forever is a unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct results of their contribution. Virtually 100% of the funds raised by the chapters, exclusive of membership fees, remain with the chapter. In other words, chapters see the benefits of their fundraising efforts in their own communities. The Bemidji chapter of Pheasants Forever tries to use their funds to benefit children in the community. This year they helped host the Bemidji Game Fair and Pet Expo.
The Bemidji Game fair and Pet expo was a huge success this year. For our first year we doubled our expectations. We brought over 2000 spectators through the front gate and registered over 400 dogs. The dock dogs competition brought in 65 of those dogs and over half were local competitors. Willow Creek Kennels from Little Falls, and Brian Bakken of Bemidji put on some fantastic dog training seminars just to name a couple we had. There were over 250 kids that tried the archery and even more than that tried the air rifle. We are all about getting the children away from the tv's and interested in an outdoor activity and I think we did a fantastic job in igniting that spark.
This Chapter of Pheasants Forever has approximately 350 members. http://paulbunyan.pheasantsforever.org/
