2009 Bemidji Game Fair & Pet Expo
2009 Bemidji Game Fair was held June 19 & 20 at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds. We changed the venue a little by hosting a National Qualifier DockDog Competition which showcased some of the best of the DockDogs Northern Stars club, other clubs, and individuals and breaking a world record for a Golden Retriever distance jump! We had many "local talents" perform too and it was fantastic to see all the dogs.
We were fortunate to hold a Minnesota Duck & Goose Calling Contest which took a little while to get used to the sounds, but was very fun. We had two top notch retrieving kennels come and give seminars, as well as sled dog, search & rescue, Beltrami K-9, and of course everyone's favorite- ARCHERY!
The Twin Cities Disc Dog Club came and entertained and informed us about the great sport of Disc Dogs. They took some of their dogs on to the dock and showed us they were as good in the water as they were on land!
Our vendors kept busy selling their items and the kids, adults and dogs had a lot they could do. We had over 2,800 people our second year and over 400 dogs.

2008 Bemidji Game Fair & Pet Expo
The first Bemidji Game Fair & Pet Expo was held June 21 & 22, 2008 at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds.
It was a joint endeavor by the Bemidji Pheasants Forever and the Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association to show the community some of the outdoor sports that are available and promote getting kids outdoors. We also wanted to show them some of the great "stuff'" that can be done with your dog.
We had almost 2,100 people and over 400 dogs attend the two days of the Game Fair & Pet Expo that included Dock Dog competition hosted by DockDogs Northern Stars, Beltrami K-9 Unit demonstrations, Willow Creek Kennel seminars, Search & Rescue, sheep herding demos, agility demos, flyball demos, youth and 3-D archery, trap shooting, retriever demos and much more. There were indoor (the Commercial Building) and outdoor vendors, food vendors and local rescue organizations and dog breeders represented as well.
People and dogs were able to watch or participate in DockDogs, 67 dogs competed and over half were from this area, there were shooting sport games and kid & dog games to play. And a lot to watch and learn!
There was no admission charge to enter the Game Fair & Pet Expo, and although we had perfect weather, we were prepared to hold the event rain or shine.

Bemidji Chapter of Pheasants Forever
Pheasants Forever is making a difference for pheasants and other wildlife across the nation. In fact, Pheasants Forever members completed over 20,000 habitat projects last year alone. All told, over 3 million acres have been improved for wildlife habitat during Pheasants Forever's first two decades.
Pheasants Forever is a unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct results of their contribution. Virtually 100% of the funds raised by the chapters, exclusive of membership fees, remain with the chapter. In other words, chapters see the benefits of their fundraising efforts in their own communities. The Bemidji chapter of Pheasants Forever tries to use their funds to benefit children in the community. They are committed to hosting the Bemidji Game Fair and Pet Expo as a way of getting the kids outside and interested in an outdoor activity.
This Chapter of Pheasants Forever has approximately 100 members. http://paulbunyan.pheasantsforever.org/
